How to enroll in a course eligible for a Student Visa in Australia?•Once you've found your course, you are ready to proceed with the enrolment. Ausgate will guide you through this process and handle all the necessary communication with your school. No hard copies will be required, and you'll simply email your documents to your Ausgate agent. Submit your documents. •The school will typically require a scan of your previous education certificate (e.g. a high school diploma, a university degree...), the biographical page of your passport, and you'll also need to fill out a simple enrolment form. •Proof of English may also be required (IELTS or similar) from non-native English speakers. If you don't have one, don't worry, and just send us a message. We can recommend you a school with a free online English test. Schools often don't require proof of English if you've recently studied in an English-speaking country. Receive your Letter of Offer (LoO) •After our team submits your documents, you'll just wait for the school to issue your Letter of Offer. This is usually very quick when enrolling with Ausgate and your Offer Letter will be ready within 1-2 business days. If you need the Letter of Offer very quickly (e.g., because your current visa expires soon), make sure to notify our team as soon as possible so we can recommend schools with the fastest turnaround times and help you avoid those with slower enrolment processes. •Your Letter of Offer will confirm that the school has a spot for you in your chosen intake, outline the conditions of your enrolment and also show a detailed tuition fee payment plan with due dates. Sign the Letter of Offer and pay the first installment •At this stage, we will ask you to sign your Offer Letter and pay the first instalment (usually the first term tuition fee + enrolment fee). You will pay directly to the school, not Ausgate. You will just notify our team after the payment is done so we can immediately follow up with the school and request your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and apply for a Student Visa in Australia •The last enrolment step is to check if all your details in the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) are correct. This is the document issued by the school after you signed the Letter of Offer and made your payment. If you are enroling in a package of multiple courses, each course will have a separate CoE. Confirmation of Enrolment is an official document that our registered migration agent will use for your Student Visa application.

Do I need to show my bank account for a Student visa application? How much money do I need to have? There is no simple answer to this question. Here's why: Every applicant for a Student visa in Australia is required to state in their application, how are they going to support themselves financially while studying in Australia, but not every applicant has to provide evidence of available funds. Depending on your country of passport and the course you are applying for, you may need to provide the evidence upfront. If you are not sure, feel free to contact us and we will confirm with our registered migration agent whether that will be your case. So-called 'show money' for a Student visa in Australia depends on how long is the course you are applying for. It’s capped at 1 year - so you don’t need to show more even if you are applying for a 2-, 3- or 4-year course. This is how it’s calculated: Living costs + Course Fees + Travel Costs At the moment: 1-year living costs are $21,041 AUD. If you will be applying for a Student visa with your partner, add another $7,362 AUD. Applying with a child will further increase the required financial capacity. Course fees depend on the school you choose, the duration of your course and how much have you pre-paid already. Use the first 12 months of your course fees. If your course is 12 months or less, use the total cost. Deduct any costs you have already paid. Travel costs depend on your home country and whether you are applying in Australia or overseas: If applying outside Australia, include $2,000 AUD for most countries. If applying in Australia, include $1,000 AUD for most countries.
-
Update (August 2023): How much bank balance is required for an Australian Student visa in 2023?There's a change in the living cost component from the 1st of October 2023. 1-year living costs are now $24,505 AUD.
-
Who can show funds for a Student visa in Australia and how?If you are required to provide the evidence upfront (we recommend doing this even if you are not required to), providing a scan or a PDF of your bank statement may be sufficient, and certified copies are ideal. If the money is in a bank account of your relative(s), provide their bank account statement(s) and a letter confirming that you will have access to these funds. All our applicants get a free template of the financial capacity letter. Aside from a bank balance, you can also provide financial capacity via an ongoing income if your parents or spouse earns over $60,000 AUD per year. As with all questions related to a Student visa, we recommend you check the website of the Australian Department of Home Affairs for more information. This checklist is really helpful. What’s the longest Student Visa I can apply for?The duration of your Student Visa depends on the duration of the course you want to enroll in. Our longest courses will let you apply for a 4-year Student Visa. Australian Department of Home Affairs often grants Student Visas for a period that is a little longer than the duration of the course. The extra period depends on multiple factors like the duration of your course, the duration of your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), your course finish date, etc. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to make sure that you will have a good chance for an extra period on your Student Visa in Australia.

What is OSHC and why do I need it?OSHC means Overseas Student Health Cover and it's mandatory health insurance you need in order to apply for a Student Visa in Australia. These are all six OSHC providers approved by the Australian Government: NIB, CBHS, AHM, Medibank, Bupa, and Allianz.
-
How much does OSHC cost in Australia?depends on your course duration and for 12 months you can expect it to be around $571 AUD. You don't need to pay OSHC before you enroll, however, it has to be paid before we lodge your Student Visa. In case you would decide to leave Australia before you complete your course or would change your visa or in case you'd get a Student Visa refusal, you'd be able to request a refund for your unused policy. Now that you know what is OSHC, you can get your free quote here to compare NIB, CBHS, AHM, Medibank, Bupa, and Allianz to see for yourself, which one is the cheapest for your particular case and how much can you save. Note: Some Belgian, Norwegian, and Swedish students are exempted and don't have to get the Australian OSHC when applying for a Student Visa. TIP: Student Visas are usually granted for a little longer than the actual course duration. Make sure that even if you get the cheapest OSHC for a student visa, it won't end on the date of your course completion. How much longer you should aim for? Here's our best experience with the length of the OSHC when a course is 10 months or longer: If your course ends between January and October, the duration of your OSHC should be 2 months on top of your course duration. If your course ends in November or December, you should get your OSHC until the 15th of March of the following year.
